The Sporades islands lie on the northeast side of Evia. They are a cluster of stunningly beautiful green islands, the largest of which are Alonissos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros. The capital is on Skopelos, which is famous for its 2000-year-old tradition in wine making. There is ferry connection between Skiathos and the northern Greek capital of Thessaloniki. There are also frequent flights connecting Athens to Skiathos and Skyros daily.
